Death by Pinterest and Classroom Reveal

***WARNING PHOTO OVERLOAD***Okay, so I am obsessed with Pinterest. Admitting you have a problem is the first step, right?  I spend hours on projects that I think will take a "few" minutes. I've spent the last two weeks working like a madwoman trying to get my room ready.  If you know me, this is no small feat.  I am the teacher who is ususally the first one in the building unpacking and the last one at the end of the year.  My new class wasn't ready for move-in until 2 weeks ago, so I'm still "adding" to it daily.  Almost every corner has "pinteresting" feature.

This is the view as you enter thedoor.  Even though I'm not Dual Language, I like to split my room up into 4 quadrants: Math, Literacy, Science and Social Studies. I also like having a student generated word wall with vocabulary.

Another pinspiration idea from April at ChalkTalk, but I still need to add a few vowels and graphic for each letter.

I lurve Ladybug Teacher Files.  I still need to decide on an alphabet but I'm loving her genre dots.

My leveled library in progess...

Recognize those dry-erase spots?  Yup, pinterest!  I also have my brownie points, birthday balloons, homework club, rainbow polka dot storage carts and teacher papers organizer below all from Pinterest.

My small group area has 5 gallon bucket seats and my "stop" sign per Debbie Diller inspiration.
How can I forget the inspiration from Sarah Cooley and her awesome writing station. I'm working on getting my "writer's eye" together as well.

I also have my whole brain rules from GingerSnaps and my very own classroom rules freebie!

I am in awe of all the truly fantastic teacher resouces available made by teachers for teachers.  I'm sure I failed to give credit where credit was due for all the wonderful inspiration, ideas and work from fellow teachers  Thanks ya'll and have a great year!

Classroom Reveal Photos - Finally!

Well, tonight was our Back to School Extravaganza.  My kiddos showed up in full force.  I love what I do!  I finally took pictures of my classroom after the umpteenth time rearranging my room.  I can never say I'm ever done - since I have a pinterest addiction - but I am please with the current state of things.  Looks like a giant room, huh.  I actually have a very small room with a wall of mirrors.

I have six table groups by color.  Since I team teach, I can't really label anything with student names so my chair pockets are numbered 1-4 to make for easy grouping.

In the back of the room I have my small group area and my Writing resources for the Daily 5.  I also have a few pinterest inspired projects - rainbow drawers and teacher toolboxes. In the front of the room I have my class library, whole group area and word wall.

As you enter the room, we have our social contract, rules, procedures and brownie points.
On the otherside of the student mailboxes, We post our student of the week, bucketfillers  and birthdays.

And to complete the 360 tour, there's the CRAFT Board, book boxes, clock and computers.
That's all folks... Sorry for the picture overload :0)

Here we go...

It's taken me all summer to finally put together this blog. Check! off my to-do list. Now I just need to find time to actually post. I'm itchin' to get into my classroom and get started with all the fab ideas I found from blog-stalking. I thought I knew what I wanted to do in my room until I spent a little time (I mean hours) on the internet. Okay I have to admit I'm a little obssessive when it comes to teaching. One of my secret loves is HGTV and I have to admit I even made a design board for my class room (think Candice Olsen). Check out the pic...

Hah! Isn't that hilarious!!!
